Philadelphia Had 499 Murders In 2020 [ 4 January 2021 ]

For just the second time in its history, Philadelphia’s annual homicide
total threatened in 2020 to reach 500, another grim marker in a year where
the city has been racked by the coronavirus pandemic, economic strife, and
social unrest of racial inequity.
The number of people killed last year — 499 as of late Thursday — is 40% higher than in 2019, and more than in all of 2013 and 2014 combined. The only time more people were slain in the city was in 1990, when police reported 500 homicides as violence surged alongside an intensifying crack-cocaine epidemic.
The spike in shootings was even more pronounced. More than 2,240 people were shot since Jan. 1, 40% more than police have ever recorded. Those statistics date back only to 2007, when the Police Department began keeping track of shooting victims separately from the broader category of assaults involving a gun.
As in most years, the vast majority of victims were young,
Black men — many from impoverished neighborhoods lacking resources and long
afflicted by gun violence. But shots also killed and wounded children
playing on the
street. A pregnant woman was
struck by a stray bullet — forcing the early delivery of her baby. Some
gunmen
fired indiscriminately into block parties. A witness
was shot dead near City Hall in what police believe was a targeted hit
for his testimony in a murder trial.

America's 100 Most Dangerous Cities In looking at Table 2, of the
worst cities over 100,000, Flint, MI is in the top position (#5, overall).
The city--hit particularly hard in the last couple decades of the 20th
century in the wake of large auto companies relocating their factories,
taking many jobs along with them--has been in the news the past few years
for suffering from a yet-to-be-resolved water crisis. Flint’s problem with

continue to reel from the devastating effects of deindustrialization and the
shift from the U.S. economy from manufacturing to service.

murdered in Latin America in just sixteen years (between 2000 and 2016),
representing 33 percent of the world’s homicides—despite having only 8
percent of its population, a new report by the Brazilian Igarapé
Institute has revealed.
The report, titled “ Citizen security in Latin America: Facts and Figures,” which was released today, calls the region of the Caribbean, Central and South America the “world’s most homicidal” place.
“The overall trend right now in Latin America is one of increasing homicides and deteriorating security,” said Robert Muggah, one of the report’s authors.
“Latin America is a large area and there are lots of variations. But as a region – including Mexico down to Central America and South America – the rate of homicide is set to continue increasing up until 2030. The only other places we are seeing similar kinds of increases are in parts of southern and central Africa and some war zones.” Nearly half of all homicide victims are aged 15–29, and the report reveals what it calls the “astonishingly” large role of guns.
“In addition to having these exceedingly
high, epidemic levels of homicide, the vast majority of these homicides are
committed with firearms. Over 75 percent of homicides are gun-related.” The
global average is about 40 percent.

Mexican Murderers Achieve More Than 17 Thousand Homicides This Year

During the past week alone, at least three journalists in Mexico have been gunned down, bringing the total number of newspapermen killed in Mexico this year to ten. The wretched Third World state of affairs in both government and law enforcement in Mexico means that 99 percent of these murders go unsolved, Miguel Ángel Díaz, the publisher of Plumas Libres, a Veracruz news outlet told media.
Carlos Bravo Regidor, a journalism professor in Mexico City, said: “Most of this aggression, most of these murders come from a murky grey zone where it’s not clear where organized crime ends and public authority begins. It’s the everyday reality in many parts of Mexico.”
Just last week, Mexican authorities found 1,418 human bodies in 390 clandestine
graves according to a new research paper titled “Study Violence and Terror:

James Alan Fox and
Jack Levin analyze all 448 mass murders from 2006 to 2020 and dispel
some of the stereotypes that have clouded thinking upon these gruesome
subjects. They define a mass murder as an event that kills four or more (not
including the assailant if he winds up dead), and by any method. Fox and
Levin note: We also include mass killings involving weapons other than firearms.
Not invoking debate over gun control, these cases are relatively
obscure. About 27 percent of mass murders don’t involve guns, while only 16
percent of mass murders are carried out with the rifles that obsess
Democrats. Fox and Levin note: Finally, defying the popular conception about the role of assault
weapons, it was handguns and not rifles or shotguns that were most
likely to be used as a weapon of mass murder destruction. For example, the press has been trying to shut down public discussion of
the Waukesha onslaught since the suspect is black and he didn’t use a gun,
much less an AR-15. Yet, the association of mass murders and rifles is not wholly misguided.
From 2006 to 2020, rifles were used in 29 percent of Columbine-like public
mass murders, the ones where the murderers attempt to kill fairly random
victims. And they tend to be deadlier. Still, mass murders with rifles make up less than one half of one percent
of all murders.
Jackson, MS (82% Black), Has 97.6 Murders Per 100,000 Residents, 15 Times Higher

Jackson, Mississippi (CNN)Around Thanksgiving, this
crisis-plagued state capital saw a series of shootings that pushed the
year’s homicide total past 130, setting a grim annual record for a city
that over the last two years has quietly become one of the country’s
deadliest.
The killings, like so many in another
record-setting year of American gun violence, are not the kind that
receive national attention.
A local business owner was shot outside a barbershop while sitting in
his car.
A few days later, a man was killed in a shooting that also wounded a
13-year-old boy.
A 22-year-old inside a car was sprayed with gunfire at a gas station.
A 63-year-old man whose death by gunfire is still largely unexplained.
In the state’s most populous city, a former Confederate
stronghold that would later give way to thriving Black business
districts and serve as a hub for the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s,
residents are now grappling with a gun violence epidemic that spiked at
the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and shows no signs of abating.
“We see lifelong friends kill each other, we’ve seen a son kill
his mother and sister, have seen crimes that are based on social
determinants and an inability of people to be engaged in institutions in
which they thrive,” Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba told CNN during a
tour of the city............
When you get up to 80 per 100,000 in a city with more than
100,000 people you’re dealing with a vanishingly small number of places
with homicide rates that high,” said Richard Rosenfeld, a criminologist
at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
To put the numbers into perspective, in 2020 St. Louis was the
country’s deadliest large city,
cataloguing 87 homicides per 100,000, “and that was clearly at the
top of the list of larger cities,” Rosenfeld said. “Jackson is now
exceeding that level.”.................... It’s a
third world city, a reminder of what a day without white people in America
would look, were black individuals collectively left to their own devices.

Nicetown neighborhood Monday night. Police say the shooting left a
25-year-old fighting for his life after being shot multiple times
throughout the body on the 4400 block of Germantown Avenue near Windrim
Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
Bullet holes surround a “don’t shoot” sign at the Nicetown NAACP
office. Several bullets also shattered the windows of state Sen. Shariff
Street’s office next door. Evidence of yet another shooting that played
out on the streets.................. The
tooth fairy isn’t real. The Easter Bunny isn’t real. Santa Claus isn’t. And
with this story, we know Black Lives Matter-ing isn’t real, just a fairy
tale devised to maximize white guilt. Just as
almost every homicide and nonfatal shooting in 2021 Philadelphia has a black
suspect, you don’t have to guess who shot up the Philadelphia NAACP

anchor Don Lemon wept at video footage of police
officer Daniel Hodges being crushed in a door by the mob.
Officer Hodges survived but suffered headaches for a week.

or subsequent attacks on officers, an informal search of the
record does not reveal it. The rest of the media were similarly
— and uncharacteristically — moved by
the Jan. 6 assaults.

parties have picked up the narrative again in the hope of using it to win
over voters during the 2022 midterm elections, with each party blaming their
counterparts across the aisle for the soaring crime rates that have become
impossible to ignore for inhabitants of large American cities. Cruz also took aim at President Joe Biden's selection for US Attorney for
the District of Massachusetts, calling Rachael Rollins an “incredibly
soft-on-crime Soros DA” and accusing her of “effectively abolish[ing]
the police by ordering her prosecutors not to prosecute drug crimes,”
resisting arrest, or trespassing.
Moldovan Murderer Killed His Girl Friend Then Did It Again

The Moldovan
national, who lived in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, was caught on CCTV
camera in February after he raped a young woman before repeatedly stamping
his head [ sic ] on her. Footage recovered by police also showed
Boianjiu, who thought he had killed the victim, leaving the scene to fetch a
wheelie bin in which he tried to hide her apparently lifeless body.

numbers are more helpful in their way than the
Uniform Crime Reporting data.
The
Chicago Sun Times reports all
murders logged in the area and gives access to statistics, e.g. how many
black, brown, white etc. came unstuck. The score today is 798 dead in the
last twelvemonth. That is more than London, more than New York and slightly
more that England. 628 were blacks, very largely(?) due to turf wars.
The issue is controlling the Narcotics Industry. The
black death count is 628/798 = 78%, rather higher than the national average.
The number of perpetrators is not given but it is mainly black versus black.
Notice that just 32 people were logged as White. Around
half have Hispanic or have other non-European names.
