To some it was a tragedy. To others it is a major opportunity. Rebuilding means that land will be bought and sold. Control will pass into different hands. Not necessarily nicer hands though. Men who have cash ready when it matters are going to be there looking for the distress sales. How much is a heap of rubble worth? Not a lot if you can't afford to clear it and rebuild but a lot if you can turn it into a gambling hell, high rise brothel or even something boring and lucrative like a shopping mall. Judah Hertz is a victim of Katrina and wonderful, caring human being. His properties were damaged but no doubt the insurance is good. We are not mentioning those nasty people who refused his gaming licence. PS. His publicity machine is in good working order.

New Orleans Mayor Gets Re-elected!! [ 24 April 2006 ]
After presiding over a very serious man made disaster he gets re-elected. For some it was a problem. For others it was an opportunity. Refugees, which means very largely blacks were given $2,000 and one way tickets to somewhere, anywhere else. They will carry on thieving, raping and dole bludging but not in New Orleans. Land will get taken over and it will become the Las Vegas of Florida or where ever. It will be just like Havana in Cuba when it was run by the Mafia. There were men with wealth and power who made the moves to take over. They were thinking on their feet. It happened just like that when the Soviet Empire fell and the Jews took over some 85% of Russian assets. Who is taking over? Try Judah Hertz   property developer and gambling casino owner when he can get a licence.

While all of this happens that very wonderful mayor said nothing. Gormless or got at? Pass.
