will be no charges in the case, as Bell concluded that Thompson acted in
self-defense.
When Walker and Jeffrey Boyd Gaither, 24, also of
Charlotte, arrived at Thompson’s neighborhood, they went to several doors
trying to find out which apartment Thompson lived in. Once they found 27
Flowers Court, they knocked at the door, Franklin said.
Thompson looked out the window, saw Walker and Gaither,
then called police about two suspicious people on the property. Thompson told
police that he heard something at his back door and retrieved his shotgun. “Dequan Thompson stated a few minutes passed and he heard
his back door bust open and observed Mr. Walker standing in his kitchen area
with a tire iron,” Franklin said. Thompson fired one shot into Walker’s chest, Franklin said.
The wounded man fled and made it to the front of the apartment before
collapsing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.... The case has been closed by the Belmont Police Department.

The vast sums to be made by both traffickers and surgeons have been

including a doctor, suspected of belonging to an international organ
trafficking ring and of committing extortion, tax fraud and grievous
bodily harm. Other illicit organ trafficking rings have been uncovered
in India and Pakistan..........
But Noel believes that one in 10 of those 106,879 organs was
probably procured by black marketeers. If so, that would mean that
organ gangs profited almost 11,000 times in 2010. UNQUOTE

The European Union's Police and Justice Mission in Kosovo told Israeli
Police that a Turkish man arrested in Kosovo on unrelated charges claimed
that he had a kidney removed by the ring. He said the ring had "thrown [him]
out to the street" after they took his kidney, and did not provide medical
aftercare.
The ring preyed on destitute people, offering them money in exchange for
organs, which were meant to be used in transplant operations abroad. The
donors received sums ranging from less than $2,000 to around $10,000.
The ring did not provide the donors with medical care and did not explain
the risks involved.
Recipients allegedly paid the ring more than $100,000 for each organ.
A similar Israeli ring had previously operated in Eastern Europe. Police
did not indicate whether any of the people arrested Tuesday were members of
that earlier ring.

ounces ]. Admir Arnautovic, spokesman for the prosecutor's office in Tuzla,
told ABC News: 'The girl was not allowed to communicate with people, was not
allowed to go to school, was starved, beaten and forced to hard labour.' He said
signs of torture were visible all over her body, adding: 'I've been in this
business for a long time, and this is the first time I've ever seen anything of
this nature.'..... Marinkovic, whose family is of Roma origin, is not the girl's
father, Mr Makalic said, but he was once married to her mother Kristina Siger, a

Four Police Arrested In Bribery Investigation

Three former Scotland Yard police officers and a serving detective have been
arrested as part of an investigation into allegations that members of the
force's anti-corruption unit were paid thousands of pounds in bribes. The

A Scotland Yard source with knowledge of the arrests confirmed the central
London premises raided this morning belonged to RISC Management, a firm of
private investigators that was working for a notorious Nigerian fraudster,
James Ibori. The arrested 53-year-old was understood, the source said, to be
Keith Hunter, the chief executive of RISC Management and a former Met
detective.........
Ibori was recently jailed after pleading guilty in the UK to laundering
£150m. He was under investigation by the Met anti-corruption unit around the
time RISC Management is alleged to have made the payments.

prison. Sanchez will also be required to complete sex offender treatment
in prison, register as a sex offender and be subject to GPS satellite
monitoring for the rest of his natural life.
As a result of his status as an illegal alien, the
United States Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has
placed an immigration detainer on Sanchez, which requires his deportation
from the United States, but that will only occur after he has served his
entire active prison sentence in the United States.

Austerity Is Blamed - Thrift Is The Answer QUOTE
Denial is leading to collective economic
suicide in Europe and the United States. The French on Sunday elected a
socialist president who wants to raise taxes on those elusive rich and keep
spending as if there is no tomorrow.
Many on the left, including European socialists, the
New York Times and its economist Paul Krugman, are falsely claiming that
Europe and even the United States are being saddled with austerity. Their
claim is that governments are not spending enough to reduce unemployment. They
want higher taxes on the most productive plus bigger government. They suffer
from a collective memory loss. Don't they remember that socialism did not
work? Every time the big-government "solution" has been tried for the past two
centuries, it has failed, but those on the left seem to be incapable of
learning.
When the current economic crisis began — largely caused by
a government-created housing bubble — we were told that if the government
spent an extra trillion dollars or so and ran up the deficit, all would be
well. Did it work as advertised in the United States? No. In the United
Kingdom? No. In France? No. In Italy? No. In Spain? No. And not even the left
wants to talk about Greece..........
The irony is that the refusal by those on the left, in both
Europe and the United States, to deal with the "entitlement" problem is going
to cause an involuntary austerity in which real incomes are going to fall for
most people. Incomes have not been rising as fast as inflation in the United
States and most places in Europe, but what has happened is only a very mild
introduction to what is going to happen............
Europe is in recession, and the odds are that by January
the United States will be back in recession. The central banks will inflate
the currency to deal with the government debt problems, the people will be

contesting 53 charges - including six counts of rape - allegedly committed

US sentencing guidelines, which call for a 22 to 30 year sentence for
Rubashkin's crimes – which included bank fraud, wire fraud, and money
laundering. Also missing is the fact that Rubashkin had a conspiracy
enhancement, which added to his sentence, and that Rubashkin not only did not
cooperate with the investigation against him, he tried to destroy it by
destroying evidence, helping a witness flee the country, and in several other
ways, as well. Rubashkin's sentence jumped from 25 years to 27 years because
he perjured himself in court. But Bazelon doesn't tell readers this, either.

subjected to simulated drowning, or waterboarding, 183 times. Speaking after the arraignment, defence
lawyer James Connell said the behaviour of the five defendants had
amounted to "peaceful resistance to an unjust system". He said the scenes
in the courtroom had demonstrated "that this will be a long hard-fought
but peaceful struggle against secrecy, torture and the misguided
institution of the military commissions".

North Carolina Female Store Clerk Shoots Suspected Serial Armed Robber
QUOTE Workers at Bethpage Grocery in Kannapolis said their store
has been robbed three times in the past three months. When an armed man tried to rob the store on Tuesday
evening, a clerk fired her own gun at him, police said. The man then ran out
of the store, according to investigators. The suspect, who police identified as John Davidson III,
called 911 and said he “tried to rob the store and got shot,” police said.
Officers later found him behind the store, suffering gunshot wounds to his

After making the call to police, Davidson made another. "He just said he was sorry and shouldn't have did it," said
Aaron Davidson, the suspect's younger brother. Aaron said his brother was

No charges have been filed against the store clerk. Police say there have been at least 10 store robberies in
and around Kannapolis in the past month and a half. While authorities have not
connected Davidson to any of the other robberies, police said they will be

Armed Citizen Shoots Intruder Breaking Into His Home QUOTE

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Bedford Heights police Detective Kenneth Hatcher
said a homeowner shot a man with a 45 calibre handgun who broke into his
house on Mardale Avenue around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
It all began,
detectives said, when the burglar tried unsuccessfully breaking into a
neighbour's house. A man next door heard commotion and looked out his
window to see what was going on and called 911. That's when detectives
said the burglar smashed some flower pots then smashed his way through a
front window in the 5300 block of Mardale Avenue and crawled in.
The homeowner can be heard on the 911 call telling the burglar to leave
and get out of his house or he'll "blow his head off." The suspect
wouldn't listen and instead began rummaging through a drawer and grabbed a
knife, police said. Fearing for his life, the homeowner grabbed a gun and
shot the suspect once in the torso..........
Authorities expect the suspect to be charged with aggravated burglary
and attempted murder. Police said the suspect has a history of mental illness and has been in
trouble with police in the past including a harassment complaint against
him at the neighbour's house a couple of years ago. UNQUOTE A

overtaken London to become the identity fraud capital of the UK. That's
according to credit watcher Experian. The Berkshire town recorded 25 identity
fraud attempts for every 10,000 households. Slough residents were targeted at
around four times the UK national average (seven households in every 10,000).
Residents of London, Gravesend, Birmingham, Luton, Manchester and Leicester were
also targeted at twice the national average rate.
Financial
service providers detected 78 incidents for every 10,000 households in East Ham,
as residents were targeted at more than 11 times the national rate. Woolwich and
Stratford also experienced significant identity fraud activity, recording 46 and
43 identity fraud attempts respectively for every 10,000 households.
Whilst the instances of fraud across all financial products
remained at a constant level between 2010 and 2011 (six in every 10,000
applications were found to be fraudulent), the data shows that there was a surge
in identity theft via current accounts doubling from six to 14 in every 10,000
applications, and mortgages quadrupling from one to four in every 10,000. UNQUOTE

further inquiry unless it does
